Steps to make Postor payesh(poppy seed kheer):
- In a deep based frying pan heat ghee and spread out evenly. Add the poppy seeds and fry till they turn brown.
- Dry grind the poppy seeds into a coarse form in a grinder.
- In the meantime boil the milk in a saucepan. Add the cardamoms splitting them.
- When the milk start becoming dense add the sugar and ground poppy seeds into it and stir thoroughly.
- Keep stirring till the poppy seeds get soft and properly cooked.
- Remove from the flame and allow to cool. Garnish with the cashews and serve hot or chilled with puris.
