  1. Take 4 medium sliced yam, diced
  2. Make ready 3 stem root sweet potato, chopped

  11. Take 1 medium size onions, chopped
  12. Take 1/2 teaspoon grounded dry red pepper
  13. Take to taste Salt

Steps to make Yam and potato porridge:
  1. Put diced yam and chopped sweet potatoes in a pot, add chicken stock and a cup of water(the water should top the yam and potato a little).
  2. Add grounded dry red pepper, mixed spice, chopped onions, curry, 1/2 teaspoon of salt to it, cover the pot and cook on medium heat.
  3. Grate tomatoes and red bell peppers together.
  4. Put 2 cooking spoon of vegetable oil in a fry pan to heat up, pour tomatoes and pepper into heated oil and stir. Add a pinch of salt and stir fry for 10minutes.
  5. After 20-25 minutes check if yam and sweet potatoes is tender, add the fried tomato pepper sauce, 2 chicken cubes of seasoning and stir with a wooden spoon(or wooden omorogun/turner).
  6. Leave to thicken for 4-5 minutes, taste for salt. Off your cooker and allow to cool before serving.
  7. Serve with fried chicken.

That being said we haven't eaten yams for a while. When the potatoes are soft enough (not too soft), mash them roughly, but leave some small chunks. Add the finely chopped coriander or parsley leaves, peeled prawns, sunflower oil, chilli powder and garlic powder. Plantain and Yam Porridge / Pottage. I had seen a recipe with sweet potatoes ( ), but I never thought plantains could also be used.
